Martin Niethammer, MD, PhD, is a board-certified neurologist specializing in movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, and essential tremor. In addition to his position at the Center for Neurosciences at The Feinstein Institutes for Medical Research, Dr. Niethammer holds an academic appointment as an Associate Professor in Neurology at the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell in Hempstead, NY. His research activities focus on the use of neuroimaging in the investigation of Parkinson’s disease and dystonia.
Dr. Niethammer earned an MD and a PhD in neurobiology in 2002 from Harvard University, and completed residency training in neurology at New York Presbyterian Hospital in 2006. He subsequently completed a fellowship in movement disorders at the Center for Parkinson’s Disease and Other Movement Disorders at Columbia University. He joined the Movement Disorders Center at Northwell Health shortly thereafter, in 2008.
