Dr. Tang graduated with an M.D. from Beijing Medical University, China, in 1995. He attended Rutgers University, New Jersey, in 2001, from which he obtained an M.S. in Biopsychology & Behavioral Neuroscience in 2004 and an M.S. in Biostatistics in 2005. Dr. Tang joined the Center for Neurosciences in 2005. His research focuses on studying metabolic brain networks related to motor and cognitive abnormalities in neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. His primary goal is to find optimal imaging biomarkers with PET to detect early signs of these illnesses as well as assess disease progression in preclinical and early-stage patients. He is also interested in using these imaging approaches to facilitate diagnosis, such as differential diagnosis of parkinsonism, and to assess efficacy of novel treatment for these diseases, such as gene therapy in Parkinson’s disease.
