Paul J. Mattis, Ph.D. obtained his doctoral degree in Clinical Neuropsychology from the University of Houston in 1994. He did his clinical internship within at North Shore University Hospital, with the joint program in the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry, and then completed a two-year post-doctoral fellowship within the Department of Neurology at University Medical Center-Stony Brook. Dr. Mattis obtained his board certification in Clinical Neuropsychology from The American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP/ABCN) in 2001. Dr. Mattis came to North Shore University Hospital in 1996, and is currently the Chief of Adult Neuropsychology Services and the Director of Neuropsychology Training, within the Department of Psychiatry. Dr. Mattis is an Assistant Research Professor of Neurology (Neuropsychology) at New York University School of Medicine, and Assistant Investigator at the Feinstein Institute for Medical Research of the North Shore Long Island Health System. Dr. Mattis’ research focuses the neuropsychology of movement disorders, including Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease. He has a special interest in the relationship between cognitive functioning and metabolism brain networks identified using state of the art functional imaging techniques.
