Phoebe Spetsieris received her BS in physics at the National University of Athens, Greece and her PhD from City University of New York in 1980. She obtained specialized training in bio-medical physics at CCNY, Downstate Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. At the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she developed neuroimaging software for positron emission tomography (PET)-based research and subsequently joined the Functional Brain Imaging Laboratory at North Shore University Hospital. Currently, she is an Associate Investigator in the Center for Neurosciences at The Feinstein Institute for Medical Research and Research Associate Professor of Neurology and Medicine at New York University School of Medicine. She was the recipient of a CUNY PhD Alumni Achievement Award in 2005.

Dr. Spetsieris, in collaboration with other members of the PET group, has used an integrated methodologies approach to develop a versatile PC based package (SCANVP) that has been widely used in multi-modal functional image data visualization and analysis. She has contributed in numerous studies of normal and neurodegenerative brain function, funded by the NIH and other foundations, and is an author or co-author in over 50 scientific publications. Her current research has focused on general automated single subject diagnosis and differential diagnosis of parkinsonian syndromes using network analysis.
